An Interview With EME Artist---Wizkid

The award winning EME artist - wizkid whose real name is Ayo Balogun speaks on his past, his  hardwork which brought his success in the music industry, his collaboration with Akon and his best artist in Nigeria that he is looking up to.

*His replies that got me thinking are bolded*

You dropped the Thank You single some days ago. What was the motive?
After having a successful year and touring the United Kingdom and the United States and going everywhere for shows, I feel it’s just right that at the end of the year, I say thank you to my fans that have shown me love and support. I know it’s just my little way because I can’t go to everybody and say thank you; so I decided to do a song and appreciate my fans and friends.
  • 2012 has been a wonderful year for you. How do you feel?
I’m thankful to God and my fans; they’ve bought my CDs. I’m just on my first album and I’ve done a lot with it. I feel so blessed and I know it’s the grace of God, the support of my fans and my hard work.
  • People always commend your stagecraft. Looking at you now, you look very different from what we used to see on the stage. Is there anything you do to boost your performance?
When I’m on stage, it’s different from when I’m just Wizkid. Once I step on stage and get the microphone to perform my songs, the energy I feel from the crowd is enough to get me going. It’s different because this is what I love to do; so it’s definitely going to be different from who I am. It’s not that I’m a loud person or that I jump up and down, but in my performance, I always give my best.
  • Why do you always re-echo your past in some of your songs?
Because I want people to know. A lot of people see me and they don’t think I’ve gone through anything tough in my life; they see me and feel I just woke up one morning and started making money. Not a lot of people saw me when I was walking the streets of Surulere. So I need people to know that I didn’t just get things for free. Nobody gave me anything, my parents gave me nothing. This is something I did for myself. I took a loan from my friends, I jumped my books for loans and nobody saw that part of the hustle, and I think it’s just relevant for me to point it out so that my fans will be sure of where I came from.

Pope Assures The people of Nigeria and Syria Hope For Peace As He Deliver's His Christmas Message

Pope Benedict xvi used his Christmas message to the world on Tuesday to say people should never lose hope for peace, even in conflict-riven Syria and in Nigeria where he spoke of "terrorism" against Christians.

Delivering Christmas greetings in 65 languages, Benedict used the Biblical analogy of the "good soil" to underscore his view that the hope represented by Christmas should never die, even in the most dire situations.
"This good earth exists, and today too, in 2012, from this earth truth has sprung up! Consequently, there is hope in the world, a hope in which we can trust, even at the most difficult times and in the most difficult situations," he said.
In his virtual tour of the some of the world's trouble spots, he reserved his toughest words for Syria, Nigeria and Mali.

Tunde--One Of Style-plus Group Has Gone Solo

The R&B group had not been able to attain the success achieved by their debut album that contains songs that will be forever green in many hearts.
Despite the travails, the group has managed to stay together, releasing a song to debunk rumours of a break-up after four years of being together, each of the members singing lines that they remain faithful to the group, but the break-up has started as Tunde’s decision to leave will definitely leave a big hole in the group which naturally would encourage other members to try their luck in solo careers.
If the reports are anything to go by, Tunde has rebranded himself as NativeBoy, and has recorded several songs under his own record label B.A.T. Records.

Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu's Will Pronounced Fake by First Son

Chukwuemeka junior declared on Saturday that the will pronounced earlier on by  barr. Onyekwelu  in respect to His father  is not genuine, saying that the lawyer is a private counsel to Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu and not that of his  late father. He however  claim to have a copy of the original will written by his father  and not what he called “fraud” presented by barr. Onyekwelu.
His words: “There have been rumours up to yesterday that there is an attempt to read the will and that they intend to make changes in the original will. Well, I have not seen the will that they read.
“Now there are issues that come to mind. Why were there no members of Ojukwu family when the will was read? They were not invited and they were not told.
“She was here last Sunday when we removed the mourning cloth and since she knows that the will would be read she would have invited us or even put us on notice.
“Now the lawyer that is supposedly doing all this things is not our father’s lawyer. Mr Onyekwelu is not a lawyer that is known to the family as Ezeigbo’s lawyer. Remember when Ezeigbo was sick the same lawyer went to the press to claim that Ezeigbo was recuperating and that was not true.
“It is still the same lawyer that claimed to have custody of the will. And I told everybody that it was not true and that since my father was flown to England he never lifted an arm or spoken a word until he finally gave up.
